As we make our way back into spaces where we lead students in-person, and aim to continue to deepen the experience of all students, whether in-person or online, an up-to-date training that incorporates trauma-informed practices and awareness of personal space in assisting techniques from language cues to hands-on assisting is critical for yoga teachers.

We welcome yoga teachers from all traditions to join us for this program. This course is a 16-hour elective for Pranakriya’s 300-hour advanced certification and awards 16 YA CEU’s.  CLICK HERE for more details and registration

Musculoskeletal Assessment for Yoga Teachers at Crofton Yoga

  • Crofton Yoga (map)

This program will be held in-person at Crofton Yoga (Crofton, MD).

This course builds upon basic anatomy with the intention of further developing a teacher’s observational and assessment skills to enhance their personal practice and their work with students. These are most effectively used in a one-on-one environment, however the practitioner or teacher can also benefit from a greater understanding of assessment techniques for use in group settings.

Students will learn musculoskeletal assessment techniques by developing their knowledge of the terms: mobility & flexibility, facilitated vs. inhibited, agonist vs. antagonist, symmetry, range of motion, tone vs. atrophy, balance and perceived source of pain. Learning will take place through group observation, yoga practice, and one-on-one assessments. Basic yoga postures will set the observation platform.

Students who have participated in Pranakriya’s 200-hour yoga teacher training will have a solid foundation for participation in this course. We welcome yoga teachers from all traditions to join us for this program which earns 20 YA CEUs.  CLICK HERE for more details and registration
